Very heavy reinvorfced batting made from German Silver.
Has a rotating back for horizontal and vertical subjects.
There are supposed to be as manay as 14 different lens combination for the
9x12cm (285/7). 10x15cm (285/9), and the 5x7" (285/11) versions of this camera.
When Zeiss acquired ICA, this model was continued as model 285. This camera is not marked Zeiss
The so-called tropical cameras were made of moisture resistant
materials to withstand the tropical regions of the world. Many
times the wood was teak. The leather bellows were specially
treated to minimize mold. The metal parts were almost always
brass or, as in the case of the ICA, high nickel content steel
sometimes called "German Silver".
